However, Carole had brought friends from schools for years to spend the nights and weekends. Barbara, Gretchen, Reba and Sandra were as much a part of our group as those who lived nearby. In the fall of 1948 we began to go to Gwen's house for parties after Woodrow Wilson football games. Thanks to Gwen, Carole, Kay, Gretchen and Sandra we grew, in a short time, from just a ball team to a social group.
